My Journey to Jewelry: I remember that day in Paris and the moment I fell under the spell of handmade jewelry! As a music student in Paris, I was entranced by the beauty and creative energy of this magical city and was devouring the rich culture all around me -- from art to cuisine, from music to dance, from architecture to gardens. I took long walks in different neighborhoods where I discovered so many aesthetic delights at every turn! One day I walked through the Marais, one of the oldest neighborhoods in Paris, where I came upon a charming, woman-owned studio shop. The heavily textured white walls told stories of long ago and created the perfect backdrop for the designer's jewelry. It was bold, beautifully made, and statement-making. I literally dreamt in jewelry that night! It would be years later, and coupled with a career in music, that I gave myself the gift of learning the art and craft of handmade jewelry fabrication. In 2009 I started studying at the renowned Jewelry Arts Institute in New York City where I learned ancient methods of jewelry making. These skills which include sawing, hammering, texturing, gemstone setting and granulation are the basis upon which I create my jewelry -- wearable art that combines design elements both classic and modern. From exquisite urban corners to breathtaking ocean waters -- traveling continues to be a great source of inspiration... reminding me of that day in Paris!
